Hello. I'm Ellen Miller.
I am an Educational Therapist in private practice with over 25 years of experience working with students with learning differences. I teach students how to learn to learn. I specialize in multisensory, structured, and diagnostic instruction in reading; writing; spelling; vocabulary; math and study strategies. Reading and writing fluency are also addressed. Academic demands and expectations increase rapidly as students progress through school. It is therefore essential for students to develop a strong foundation in reading; writing; spelling; vocabulary; math and executive function skills. It is my mission and life's work to empower children who experience academic challenges to succeed in school, at home and in life. Through both screening and direct instruction, I strive to help each child reach his/her academic goals. This process requires that I work closely with the student's parents, teachers, and learning specialists to help ensure that students learn with success.

Educational therapy combines academic and therapeutic approaches for evaluation, remediation, case management, and communication advocacy on behalf of children with learning difficulties.

Students will:
• build skills in phonemic awareness, decoding, reading and writing fluency, spelling (encoding),
   vocabulary and handwriting.
• learn active reading comprehension strategies, such as visualization, and practice applying
the strategies to their functional independent reading.
• learn strategies and build core skills in organization, note taking, paraphrasing, and written    expression.
• learn strategies for successful study habits.
• stay engaged and excited in math by being an active participant in game-based learning    techniques.
• learn techniques to enhance memory skills.
• learn strategies to maintain focus and calm in stressful situations.
